Wind Me Up, Chuck! Mondays featuring The Chuck Brown All-Star Band,

The Chuck Brown All-Star Band kicks off Wind Me Up, Chuck! Mondaysan endearing legacy series at The Howard Theatre dedicated to the Godfather of Go-Go's eternal groove. This residency will feature stellar collaborations between The Chuck Brown Band and a medley of Artists and Icons who inspired Chuck Brown and were influenced by the man himself. The Chuck Brown Band includes: Chuck's daughter, KK; D Floyd; Scooby; Sweet Cherie; Kenny Kwickfoot Gross; Mighty Mo Hagans; Karlston Ice Ross; Marcus Young; Greg Boyer; Bryan Mills; and Brad Clements. Before his passing on May 16th, Chuck Brown spent decades transforming the Go-Go scene that he created, with unparalleled musicianship and legendary performances that gained fans as he toured around the world.  The music became the heartbeat of the Nation's Capital, as Chuck put it: "We get love everywhere we go, but we always love coming home to DC.  Go-Go belongs to DC." Throughout his extensive musical career, the beloved guitarist, singer and songwriter recorded over 22 albums, eventually receiving a Grammy Nomination in 2010 for his collaboration with Jill Scott and Marcus Miller on "Love," the hit single from Chuck's last album studio album, We Got This. Since Go-Go is known for its non-stop groove-laden sets, it's true to form that Chuck Brown and Soul Searcher's 1978 hit "Bustin' Loose" found a new peak in 2002 when it was sampled by Nelly's hit "Hot in Herre" and then again in 2005 as the Home Run Celebration Song of The Nationals, while remaining in constant rotation on radio, dancefloor, and concert setlists. As such, Chuck's music will never stop moving DC and beyond. While the maestro is physically gone, Chuck's soul resonates from DC and the band plays on....
