John Early is a comedian who recently created and starred in his own episode of Netflix’s The Characters. You can see him in the TBS comedy Search Party, and he’ll be appearing soon in The Masterpiece opposite Sharon Stone and a mini series for Vimeo with frequent collaborator Kate Berlant.
His previous credits include Neighbors 2, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, Love, Animals, Broad City, High Maintenance, Meltdown with Jonah and Kumail, 30 Rock, and the indie features Fort Tilden (SXSW Grand Jury Prize) and Other People (2016 Sundance opening night film). He was a writer on season 4 of truTV’s Billy on the Street.
Early is an Artist in Residence and Comedy Curator at Ars Nova in New York, where he hosts the monthly variety show Showgasm. He performs a live sketch show Hey™ with Kate Berlant, co-hosts a weekly stand up show at Cake Shop,a full length solo show Literally Me, and has been a part numerous comedy festivals including Just For Laughs, South by Southwest, Riot LA, Treasure Island Music Festival, Festival Supreme, Bonnaroo, Pemberton, and Outside Lands. He was named one of Time Out New York’s Top Ten Comedians of 2015.
Kate Berlant is an actor, stand-up, and writer who was recently profiled by The New York Times as a “magnetic improvisational comic” at the forefront of experimental comedy. Kate is one of Variety’s “Ten Comics To Watch for 2015" and was previously named a New Face at the 2014 Montreal Comedy Festival. TimeOut LA listed her as one of the nine comedians to watch in 2015 and she was one of Comedy Central’s Top Ten Comics to Watch in 2013. She frequently tours the country, performing in festivals such as Sasquatch, Festival Supreme, Treasure Island Music Festival the New York Comedy Festival. She co-created the video Satellite Space for MOCAtv and was a featured performer on IFC’s “Comedy Drop.” She recently wrapped a pilot for Comedy Central and for TruTV and can be seen on season two of Comedy Central’s The Meltdown. She has been featured in Rookie, Esquire and Los Angeles Magazine. Kate frequently collaborates with John Early. She has a monthly show at the UCB Franklin called “Communikate” and stars in her own upcoming Netflix comedy special.
